OmniSystem is an adaptive, multifunctional and multilayered woven membrane that is able to responsively transform itself to accommodate the needs of a given situation. Through applying weaving as an organizational and structural logic, we present a system that synthesizes various components, inherent to spatial design, into a single unified network.
Through this weave, we conceive a series of architectural structures that focus on enabling spatial interactivity and variable permeability. Our exploration resulted in many prototypes that expanded our understanding of the OmniSystem concept as well as identification of many more areas to explore. We created specific prototypes to target each attribute and specifically explore moldability of the entire structure, elasticity of the individual strands, porosity of the space between strands, and responsiveness of the structure to sound.
